Cooking – certainly in this time of year – is one of the homeliest activities you can imagine. Style, comfort and beauty come together in your own kitchen. In an earlier post we mentioned IKEA (www.ikea.com/); we’ve done several kitchens with their help. With online software you can make 3-D drawings yourself or have a designer help you.
That’s a bit (or a lot) more expensive though, but we used to frequent this company for advise and ideas http://www.artisan.com.sg/tips/ Have a look for yourself! We welcome your ideas and links of similar developments. Let us know what you think. The Neighbour

One way to put your ideas about style, comfort and beauty in practise is by designing your own house. We’ve done that on several occassions, so let me share the house in Singapore that we refurbished – or maybe better: completely rebuilt – in 2011/12. The story is nicely summarized in the article below and the pictures are more beautiful than we could ever have made them ourselves. Good food, honest food made with quality, locally sourced produce and with respect for the environment will not only be tasty but will be a joy to experience as well. That’s what is behind the revival of the Dutch cooking scene as displayed on http://foodtube.nl/. You can find a mix of traditional Dutch dishes and lots of imported inspiration from across the world in line with the Dutch eclectic culture going back centuries being a trade nation founded on international trade.
